The coworkers and I headed to this new Italian restaurant situated in the NYTimes building, in celebration of M turning another year younger! If you've never noticed this restaurant, it's probably because it sits below street level. But many a commuter has walked by the curtained glass windows, and probably wondered what this exclusive, shi-shi-looking place was all about. Well, it's neither exclusive, nor posh, but very much a business luncheon delight. However. Be warned that prices are a bit on the up side, though a prix fixe lunch is also offered.
I, of course, cannot eat three courses, especially for lunch, and opted for one of my favorite Italian dishes, the GNOCCHI. They describe it as: potato gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese sauce and young spinach. As you can see from the photo, that's exactly what it was. It wasn't cooked to the perfection that suits my taste buds, but it was good, and I finished the plate nonetheless (/pats self on back).
M went for the RISOTTO TARTUFO: organic acquarello carnaroli rice with fava beans, fresh herbs, parmesan cheese and winter burgundy black truffles. She didn't do as good a job as I did in finishing up her dish, but not for lack of yumminess. And you can trust her judgement on this, as she's Italian :)
I've tried reeeally hard, but I just cannot remember what B ordered (and it's been SO long that they've even gone and changed the menu on me - I guess THIS is why I need to post these updates the day of! -_-;). All I recall is that he went with the prix fixe lunch meal. Anyway, it doesn't matter in the least, because I DID manage to capture the most important part of his 3 courses - the DESSERT. :)
I actually didn't try this yummy napoleon (which doesn't appear to be on the menu anymore), but B absolutely loved it for its lightness.
Shamefully, I was too full to try any desserts, but I must do so next time!
