Pio Pio

A quick dinner before CrazyStupidLove (Pause to drool over Ryan Gosling. Okay. Wait...no, not done. Drooool. ...Sorry, were we only supposed to drool over food on this blog? Fiiine, unpause.) brought us to the ever-reliable Pio Pio.

Between the four of us, we ordered the Matador Combo: Chicken Pio served with rice & beans, tostones, salchipapa and avocado salad - except we opted out of the tostones and asked for more fries instead (cause... you can never have too many fries!).

Baoguette

Sweet & sour veggies in complementary contrast to the ever-so-slightly-spicy bbq chicken (which you have the option of making spicier), with a self-added touch of hoisin sauce (for free!). OR. The classic pork "baoguette" (shown), complete with fresh herbs and again - self-added hoisin sauce (still free!). Generous amounts of meat on both accounts. Hands-down, this wins over Boi.

Now, all they need is some lychee juice...

Josie's Restaurant East

A bunch of CMU Archie grads (and some extra good friends) got together to celebrate the holidays and all the birthdays that were near (including mine!). The venue is small, but the decor is clean and modern. And they take reservations! For starters, they offer a cinnamon raisin majigger somewhere between a cake and a spongey bread. For the meal, K and I split the Strawberry Pancakes and the Crabcake Eggs Benedict. Both were tasty, but the crabcake was a bit to crabby for my taste.
