Payard Patisserie et Bistro
The first thing that comes to mind when I recall the meal at Payard is: SLUGGY SLOW. The visit to Payard for dinner started at 7:30pm and didn't finish until after 10:30pm. Possible excuses? It boggles the mind...
Now that I'm done griping (probably), with good company and good food, the minutes can pass much more easily. A couple of us ordered the Seasonal Carrot Soup, which turned out to be the best part of the meal! The only complaint is that there were too few of those slightly crispy, buttery croutons that came in the soup. YUUUUM. The Roasted Chicken was moist and satisfying, but is it really worth $27? That's still up for debate. Now, the original reason for choosing Payard was because word on the street is their desserts are superbly classic French. I won't argue that. The desserts were beautiful and tasty, but by the time the super sluggy slow service allowed us to choose our desserts, our options were limited to a mere five (as opposed to the gazillion we saw on our way into the restaurant)!
I think we need to make another trip to try more desserts and pick up some macaroons.
