Our first time making our way to the Mc & Schmick's in NJ... OF COURSE, we're going to compare it to our feast in Seattle last year.
Let's be honest. It's a noticeable difference. Seattle's location rocks a classy, modern atmosphere, open kitchen (you get to see all the cool desserts awaiting pick-up), and a view of the bay. Bridgewater's location has a fine view of The Bridgewater Mall parking lot, a closed kitchen (the desserts don't look nearly as cool), and more of a family-oriented atmosphere. Seattle is also much closer to the original locale of all the seafood they serve on their menu, which leaves food fresher.
Now, enough party-pooping. First off, doesn't that crabcake look dreamy? It's probably up there on the Top 5 Crabcakes List. And the Coconut Shrimp? Got. To. Have. Plus, isn't it hard to find a fantastic restaurant in the suburbs of Central Jersey? Mc & Schmick's is not fantastic, but it's a decent 'go-to' place for seafood and celebrations; a few notches better than Red Lobster. (But without the Cheddar Bay Biscuits. I hope that's not a deal breaker!) We'll be 'going-to' it again soon enough.
